Mission to Maker Faire 2
Join us for our second Mission to Maker Faire!
What is Maker Faire? Part science fair, part county fair, and part something entirely new! Maker Faire is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors. All of these “makers” come to Maker Faire to show what they have made and to share what they have learned.
Maker Faire is a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and who love sharing what they can do. It’s a venue for makers to show examples of their work and interact with others about it. Many makers say they have no other place to share what they do. DIY (Do-It-Yourself) is often invisible in our communities, taking place in shops, garages and on kitchen tables. It’s typically out of the spotlight of traditional art or science or craft events. Maker Faire makes visible these projects and ideas that we don’t encounter every day.
WHO: Mission students 2nd through 6th Grades and parent chaperones.
WHAT: A celebration of Science and art, hands on, educational and fun!
WHEN: Friday, May 19th. Depart 9 am – return 7:00 pm(ish)
WHERE: San Mateo County Fair grounds
HOW: Contact Kevin Clem Kevin@geekdad.me
or Mr. Timpson firstname.lastname@example.org.
This is not a typical Mission field trip. We are drawing from the general school population instead of as a class or grade level. Space will be limited, Cost is $10 per student and $15 per chaperone.
Due to the fact we will be traveling to San Mateo and returning very late, normal car pooling will be difficult, as such we highly encourage parents to attend with the students and are required to have a ratio of 1 adult per 5 students!
More information will be forwarded to attending students and parents.
We hope you can join us! Visit Makerfaire.com or feel free to contact Kevin Clem with any questions. My family has been attending this event for several years and looks forward to it each time; we also stay for the entire weekend and highly encourage others to do the same!
